Election Day is in full swing in Florida as polls are now open.

According to the latest numbers from the Florida Division of Elections, more than 8 million voters in Florida cast their ballots by mail or voted in person

But how long do citizens have to vote today? For all those who are hesitant or have little time today: Here you can find out when the polls close in Florida.

When do polls close in Florida?

In Florida, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (EST and CST) on Election Day.

What if I'm still in line at 7 p.m. Is it too late to vote?

Just because the polls close at 7 p.m. doesn't mean your vote has to be cast by then.

If you wait in line to vote by 7 p.m., you are still allowed to vote, according to the Florida Supervisors of Elections website.

When is the latest I can return my ballot in Florida?

Mail-in ballots can be deposited in secure mailboxes at election supervisory authority headquarters and branches until 7:00 p.m. (local time) on election day

Each county election office has a way to track your absentee ballot to ensure it was received and counted. To verify your ballot, go to your county's website and enter your name and date of birth.

Don't know where to vote? How to find your polling station

You cannot cast your vote at any polling station. There is a correct polling place for your specific address and sometimes it may not be the closest or most obvious location. You should therefore check where you want to vote before you leave.

To find out at which polling location you should vote, you can use your county's “voter district search.”

To use a precinct search tool using the Duval County website as an example:

  1. Visit the Duval County Supervisor of Elections website.
  2. Click the Voter Information tab.
  3. Click the Polling Location Finder tab.
  4. Enter your house number in the field provided – not your full address, just your house number.
  5. Enter your street name in the blank field below where you entered your house number. Type slowly so that the suggested street names appear below where you typed.
  6. Enter your street name slowThe system will prompt you to enter valid street names in Duval County. There is no need to enter the direction or street type.
  7. If the computer gives you street names, select your street name from one of the options.
  8. Please note that you cannot copy and paste the address. It must be entered.
