Changes to the Dallas Cowboys roster: Jonathan Mingo was traded, Andrew Booth was cut

1 minute, 9 seconds Read

The Dallas Cowboys completed a trade on Tuesday morning, acquiring wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers. All told, Dallas sent a fourth in 2025 and a seventh in 2025 in exchange for Mingo.

But what goes up must come down, and with a new player joining the Cowboys roster, they had to move on from that. Some initially speculated that someone like Brandin Cooks would also be returning from injured reserve soon, which would increase complications, but regardless of whether that happens or not, a spot has been made.

According to the mothership, Andrew Booth is the odd one out.

The corresponding move is the release of cornerback Andrew Booth, who was acquired in a trade during this year's training camp in Oxnard.

The Cowboys initially acquired Booth in a cornerback trade from the Minnesota Vikings when Dallas sent them Nahshon Wright. If we follow the entire paper trail, it looks like this:

  • The Dallas Cowboys select Nahshon Wright in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft
  • Wright will be traded for Andrew Booth in 2024 training camp
  • Booth is cut for Jonathan Mingo, whom the Cowboys acquired in a trade for a fourth-rounder in 2025 (who also gets a seventh-rounder back in 2025).

Booth has barely played for the Cowboys this season, so this isn't necessarily shocking.

We'll see if Brandin Cooks still finds his way back into the team.
