Adam Schefter reveals how close the Chiefs could be to trading for Marshon Lattimore

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for the Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Adam Schefter dropped some interesting information on the broadcast before the game.

According to Schefter, “(The Chiefs) are monitoring developments in New Orleans. They checked out Marshon Lattimore and I think that would be a player the Chiefs could be involved with by the 4pm deadline tomorrow. We'll see if the Chiefs can find a way to get something done with another trade.”

The Chiefs, who have already made a number of trades before Tuesday afternoon's deadline, are clearly making no mistakes when it comes to securing the first three-peat of the Super Bowl era. For those who don't know Lattimore, he was drafted one pick after Patrick Mahomes in 2017 and has spent his entire career with the Saints.

However, as we all know, the Saints have been on the decline this season, suffering their seventh straight defeat. Their head coach was fired Monday morning, paving the way for the Saints to trade any of their players who might draw interest from other teams. Lattimore would make sense in Kansas City considering he's on a team that's going nowhere and the Chiefs could use another cornerback on their already stout defense.

The Chiefs lost their top cornerback in the offseason when L'Jarius Sneed was traded to Tennessee, but the secondary has still played pretty well. Trent McDuffie has solidified himself as CB1, but adding more depth, especially with a piece as talented as Lattimore, would be a no-brainer for Brett Veach and the front office.

What may be concerning, however, is that Lattimore has dealt with a slew of injuries, missing two games this season and not playing fully since 2021. Despite this, Lattimore is still playing well and ranked 38th in the qualifying 205 cornerbacks according to PFF.

If the Chiefs take a chance and make this move, there is no doubt that Lattimore will make them a better team. It will prove that Veach and the front office are truly committed to taking the three-pointer and making it into NFL history. Gotta love it.
