The Chargers expect to land the former No. 2 overall pick before the trade deadline

The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching and teams are preparing their final offers to take players before time runs out on November 5th.

The Los Angeles Chargers could be a team in the market for another wide receiver, but in his latest round of predictions, Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News expects the team to sign another player at a completely different position. His prediction is that the Chargers will make a deal with the team they just beat, the New Orleans Saints, to sign edge rusher Chase Young.

While Young never quite lived up to his status as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, he wasn't bad either. He was the 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year and has 18.5 sacks in his career. He could give any team great depth in the pass rushing department.

However, it would be a strange move. Joey Bosa has been injured far too many times, but the Chargers still have Tuli Tuipolotu and Bud Dupree on the roster. Signing Young while it was cheap would be a sensible move, but it would ignore the position where the team needs the most help: wide receiver.

Could the Chargers trade for Chase Young?

Young's name has been mentioned a lot lately when it comes to potential trade targets, so he could definitely move from New Orleans after signing a one-year deal with the Saints this offseason.

Young played with the other Bosa, Nick, with the San Francisco 49ers last season after the Washington Commanders traded him before the deadline last year. He registered 2.5 sacks with the Niners and played in the Super Bowl, but he didn't do enough to get a new contract there.

Jim Harbaugh and Jesse Minter could probably get the best out of Young, who is only 25 years old.
