Joe says this year's Bucs offensive line is playing its best football since the victorious 2020 Super Bowl season.

Even though it was only four years ago, only one player on the Bucs' offensive line is still on the team. This is current left tackle Tristan Wirfs. As a rookie in 2020, he was the right tackle.

Last week, Wirfs talked about how the line played. So Joe asked him to compare this year's line to his rookie season. Wirfs said he couldn't because it was so different.

Wirfs noted that in 2020, he was the young pup on a line loaded with veterans. This year he is the old man.

“It’s completely different,” Wirfs said. “You have to look around our O-line room when I was a freshman. It was a room full of vets.

“(Ryan) Jensen was in (6). (Donovan Smith) was in the year (5). Ali (Marpet) was in the year (5). Josh Wells was in (6). (Alex Cappa) was in year (3).

“You can’t compare the two just in terms of the amount of football (Line played in 2020).”

Despite the relatively limited experience this year's line has compared to 2020, the work is still getting done, Wirfs said.

“It didn’t bother anyone,” Wirfs said. “They completed (their tasks) like a pro.”

Wirfs praised the line for being on the same page and “playing as a unit.”

With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out, Joe would say the Bucs' offensive line is now the strongest unit on the team.
