Should the Steelers stand by at the trade deadline?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have tried and failed to acquire a starting wide receiver for most of the year. In case you haven't noticed, they haven't managed to acquire one. At this point, with all the trades made and injuries to starters, who is left out that is available at a reasonable price and could actually help this wide receiver room?

It seems to be getting to the point where we're trying to rearrange the lounge chairs. Not on the Titanic, because that's far from a sinking ship, but is adding another wide receiver just tedious work with the options available? Can they actually add someone who offers much more than what they already have on the practice squad? A lot of people thought Quez Watkins would make the Steelers roster, but there he sits.

I mean, let's be honest, how excited will you be about Adam Thielen? Who is worth trading seventh-round picks for anyway? In terms of depth, the Steelers will theoretically get Roman Wilson back in three weeks. And again, they have both Watkins and Brandon Johnson on the practice squad. They have already added their “former purebred player” with Any Isabella.

Now I'm not saying the Steelers should put down the phone and not even listen to trade offers. But at this point, it's difficult to see a receiver deal that will make a difference to the season. We're mostly talking about other players whose contribution levels are similar to Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III.

We've also only seen two weeks of Russell Wilson getting everyone involved and I think we'll see a greater number of targets in the second half of the season. Even if the Steelers make a move before the trade deadline, I fear it will be more symbolic than meaningful. But deadlines spur action, and the deadline is approaching, so it's now or never.

The Steelers' 2024 season is underway after another disappointing year that ended with a first-round playoff loss. They've had a long offseason since the Buffalo Bills put them out of their misery in January. There are positive signs, but things could get out of hand at any moment.

The biggest question on the team's mind is the quarterback question. Will Russell Wilson get a lucrative new deal next year and is Justin Fields still in discussion?? How will the team proceed? the depth chartthat is surprisingly still changing?

After weeks of camp and preseason games, the regular season is here. The Steelers made numerous moves through signings and trades – and releases. More than usual, they seemed to have an easier time creating holes and were confident they could fill them. Some were able to fill them, others not so much. However, now that we have so many pieces to the puzzle, we just need to ask a new set of questions.
