Saquon Barkley makes a wild reverse hurdle to stun the Jaguars and converts the first down

Saquon Barkley has beaten numerous defenders in hurdles throughout his football career, even in a meet at Kinnick Stadium when he played at Penn State.

But on Sunday afternoon, Barkley accomplished something that very few (if any) running backs have ever accomplished. He cleared a hurdle backwards.

Barkley intercepted a pass from Jalen Hurts early in the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and began working his way past two defenders. As he got to his third possession, Barkley turned completely around and threw cornerback Jarrian Jones with his back to him before he was eventually brought down.

All Jones could do was stare behind him in disbelief after what was supposed to be a safe tackle turned into a complete failure.

Barkley converted that play into a 14-yard gain that gave the Eagles their first down and kept their drive alive. Jake Elliott hit a 43-yard field goal early in the second quarter, ending Philadelphia's lead at 10-0. Barkley also got the Eagles on the field on their first drive of the game after catching a 20-yard touchdown pass from Hurts in the corner of the end zone. Barkley added a 19-yard rushing touchdown just before halftime.

Barkley entered Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field with 766 rushing yards and five touchdowns this season, his first with the Eagles after spending the first six of his career with the New York Giants. Barkley has rushed for more than 100 yards in four games this season, including last month against the Giants, where he rushed for a near-career-high 176 yards on just 17 carries. It was his best rushing performance in years and was the second-best rushing day for a running back against his former team in NFL history.

The Eagles entered Sunday's game with a record of 5-2. They have won three straight and are in second place in the NFC East race behind the Washington Commanders.
