What happened to Dak Prescott? Live injury updates for NFL Week 9

UPDATE 3:21 p.m. ET: Dak Prescott (hamstring injury) will not play in today's game against the Falcons. It was previously reported to be a hand injury, but the team is officially calling it a hamstring injury.

It's still unclear whether pulling Prescott is just the Cowboys throwing in the towel after the Falcons' final Allgeier touchdown or whether it signals a serious injury.

Either way, Cooper Rush will lead Dallas in its comeback attempt against Atlanta. It remains a worthwhile game for the Cowboys, who are desperately hoping for such a statement win at this point in the season.

They have to do without their superstar quarterback.

UPDATE 3:16 p.m. ET: Dak Prescott's injury affects his right throwing hand, Jane Slater reports. So far it is unclear which piece this happened on.

Cooper Rush is currently warming up on the sideline while the Cowboys are on defense.

Shortly after an offensive attack that sent the game into the fourth quarter, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott went to the medical tent with visibly injured trainers. This is a game where superstar Drake London is already out injured.

Dak led a struggling Cowboys offense against a stout Falcons defense, and of course any sort of injury would prevent Dallas from comfortably closing the gap at the current 13-21 mark.

Before this current injury issue, Dak was 18 of 24 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown. While the completion percentage is excellent, the yardage and yards per attempt are unacceptable for a Dallas offense with playoff hopes as high as this one. Their only touchdown to date came on a crazy off-platform play that resulted in Rico Dowdle catching the ball after juggling it several times.

We will provide further updates as the team releases them, and will particularly keep an eye on whether or not Dak has put on his helmet before his next ride.
