After a dominant performance Friday in Wisconsin, the No. 2 Nebraska volleyball team edged Northwestern 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 in a short 81-minute game Sunday in Evanston, Illinois. The win was the Huskers' 19th in a row and kept NU in first place in the Big Ten.

In front of the first-ever sellout crowd at Welsh-Ryan Arena for a volleyball game, Nebraska dominated throughout and in all phases. The Huskers outscored the Wildcats .287-.087, outscored them 7-2 and hit seven aces to two. Merritt Beason hit a blistering .643 en route to nine kills to lead a balanced Nebraska attack, while Andi Jackson hit .545 with eight kills and Harper Murray served three aces for the Huskers.

Nebraska shook off any worries about a hangover after Friday's win in Madison and sprinted into the set with a 6-1 sprint and never looked back, never leading by less than three points to secure the first set victory. The Wildcats took the first point of the second set and took an early 2-1 lead. But the Huskers won six of the next eight points and eight of the next 11 to keep a firm grip on the set. Similarly, Northwestern won the first rally in the third, but Nebraska won the next four and six of the next eight to build a 6-2 lead that the Huskers would never relinquish en route to an easy third-set win .

Nebraska now prepares for its first Big Ten trip to the West Coast, with the Huskers taking on Oregon in Eugene on Thursday and then traveling to Seattle to face Washington on Saturday.
