Bryce Young entered the 2024 NFL season looking for a second chance to prove himself as the Carolina Panthers' starting quarterback. He had two whole weeks to show what he could do.

First-year Panthers coach Dave Canales subbed Young in favor of veteran Andy Dalton before the team's Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Carolina insisted it still believed Young could develop into a good starter, but it continued to use Dalton whenever the 37-year-old was healthy.

Carolina's strategy hasn't changed after their 1-7 start to the season. That has led many to wonder if the Panthers could put an end to the Young experiment, like the San Francisco 49ers did with 2021 No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance after just two seasons.

Young may not be dealt before the 2024 NFL trade deadline, but teams will certainly pay attention to him before and during the 2025 offseason. Here are some possible landing spots if the Panthers move on from the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Giants' decision to give Daniel Jones a four-year, $160 million contract in the 2023 offseason was unfortunate as Jones has struggled greatly since signing his new contract. New York will almost certainly move on from him in the 2025 offseason, as they can handle a dead cap hit of just $22.2 million, according to OverTheCap.com. Young would be a cheap, potential replacement that the Giants could target if they do not trade up on the quarterback prospect of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Raiders signed Gardner Minshew as a backup starter during the 2024 NFL offseason, but neither he nor Aidan O'Connell appear to be a long-term answer for the team. Young may not have the same skill set as Jayden Daniels, who Antonio Pierce coached at Arizona State, but perhaps Pierce could be won over by Young's Russell Wilson-like combination of agility and arm talent.

The Titans hit rock bottom in Brian Callahan's first season, as Will Levis and Mason Rudolph were one of the NFL's least effective quarterback duos. Callahan was part of the team that developed Joe Burrow into a quality NFL signal-caller, so he might see untapped potential in Young, another No. 1 overall pick.

The Colts traded for Joe Flacco over Anthony Richardson after the No. 4 pick made just 10 starts in 2023. Young made just 18 starts in Carolina before being traded in favor of Dalton. A change of scenery could benefit both quarterbacks, and it's fun to imagine what Shane Steichen could do with Young after being part of the Eagles team that made Jalen Hurts a Super Bowl starter.

Aaron Rodgers turns 41 in December. His replacement, Tyrod Taylor, is 35. The Jets could use a younger quarterback to compete with Jordan Travis to replace Rodgers, and Young could benefit from learning behind Rodgers, who is one of the best NFL quarterbacks of the 21st century was.

Working with Sean McVay would be one of the best outcomes for Young's career in the long run. McVay helped turn Kirk Cousins into a quality NFL starter, took Jared Goff to the Super Bowl, won one with Matthew Stafford and revived Baker Mayfield's career after his time with the Panthers. Young would be a solid replacement for Stafford, and the abundance of weapons in Los Angeles will remind many of the quality receiver room Young was able to work with at Alabama.

Geno Smith has been a good starter for the Seahawks in recent seasons, but the 34-year-old is only under contract through the 2025 season. Young could be Smith's successor as he battles Sam Howell for the backup job. If Seahawks general manager John Schneider is reminded of Russell Wilson at all when watching Young's tape, the longtime Seattle manager might be considering him as a cheap project.
