Georgia pulls away from Florida late despite Carson Beck's 3 INTs: Live updates and reaction

Something just isn't right this year. This was Beck's third consecutive multi-interception game – and fourth in his last five – after having none of them last year when he threw 24 touchdowns on just six picks.

It can't simply be attributed to Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey not being available as security blankets this year, as Beck also didn't have them at times last year. (Bowers missed four games; McConkey missed five.) And a lot of good things happened this season: Georgia ranked 11th nationally and third in the SEC in passing plays of 20 yards or more. Beck is also on pace to throw for more yards (2,302) than he did last year (3,941). That includes this game, in which the go-ahead shot showed that he and the receivers can keep up on big plays: Arian Smith for 34 yards on third-and-7, then Lawson Luckie for 21 yards and then Lovett for another third down converted, this is time for a 10-yard score.

The problem is these critical errors. The first two interceptions were simply inexplicable, right on the defenders. The third pick shouldn't have been thrown, while Beck was hit by a drop-back early in the third quarter. There was another near-interception and a few misses by open receivers. Beck finished 25 of 40 for 309 yards with two touchdowns and the three picks.

The only good news for Beck and Georgia: No matter how hard he fights, they are still 7-1. They can only hope that this was an extremely difficult stretch, that they got through it and have evidence that he can still be a championship-caliber quarterback.
