Wisconsin wrestling opens the season against Ohio

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin wrestling is scheduled to begin its 2024-25 season on Friday, Nov. 1, taking on the Ohio Bobcats in La Crosse.

The dual will be held at Mitchell Hall Gymnasium in La Crosse, Wisconsin and will begin at 7:00 p.m. (CT).

It will be the Badgers' first time on the mat in the 2024-25 season.

Last season:

Wisconsin finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 9-7 and 3-5 in the Big Ten.
At the NCAA Championships in March 2024, the Badgers placed 18th out of 30 teams.

Scouting the Bobcats:

The Ohio Bobcats finished the 2023-2024 season 7-6. The Bobcats finished 3-4 in the Mid-American Conference.
At the 2024 NCAA Championships, the Bobcats placed 25th out of 30 teams.

The 2024-25 season will be Bono's seventh season with the Badgers.

Deputy Head Coach: Jon Reader

Reader joined Wisconsin's coaching staff in April 2018.
Assistant coach: Tony Cassioppi

This will be Cassioppi's first season with the Badgers; he was announced as an assistant coach in June 2024.
Assistant: Garrett model

Former Badger wrestler Model joined the Wisconsin team as a coach in 2023.


Looking ahead:

Next week, the Badgers are scheduled to compete in the Michigan State Open on Saturday, November 9th.
Wisconsin will host its first home game against Rider on Sunday, November 24th at the UW Field House.
