Former NFL GM suggests wild trade idea for Browns, Myles Garrett

Unless an incredible turnaround occurs, the Cleveland Browns are not trading Myles Garrett. They may be listening to offers purely as a matter of due diligence, but the odds of him actually being moved before the NFL trade deadline are probably less than one percent.

However, that won't stop fans and media pundits from cooking up crazy trade ideas for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Take former NFL general manager and current ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum, for example.

During a recent episode of ESPN's “Get Up,” Tannenbaum came up with an absolutely wild trade proposal between the Browns and Detroit Lions in which Cleveland would send Garrett to the Lions in exchange for running back Jahmyr Gibbs, three first-round picks and a second-rounder.

Tannenbaum is known for coming up with incredibly unrealistic ideas, so his trade offer shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

While it would certainly be quite a challenge for the Browns, the team would be looking at an absolutely enormous dead cap hit if Garrett were traded, so it wouldn't even make much financial sense for Cleveland.

As for the Lions, yes; Aidan Hutchinson is injured. Understood. But would they really give up that much capital for Garrett when Hutchinson is only 24 years old and likely to remain in Detroit for the foreseeable future?

That doesn't make much sense for either side.

Right now, the Browns don't seem prepared for a complete rebuild. So unless things change drastically in the next few days, Garrett is sticking around.
