Heidi Klum reveals this year's stunning Halloween costume

Heidi Klum once again put her best foot forward on Halloween, transforming herself for the unveiling of her highly anticipated costumes on ET this year.

The star hosted her 23rd annual Halloween party in NYC on Thursday, where she unveiled the look on the carpet. Klum based his work on a scene from Steven Spielberg's 1982 science fiction classic ET the aliendressed as ET, dressed up in a hat and blonde wig; She appeared alongside husband Tom Kaulitz, who was also portrayed as a more traditional ET

Klum had been touting the costume on her social media platforms throughout the day as she got ready, and a close-up video on her Instagram shows Klum's face blending into ET's neck and a blinking head sitting on top of her own.

Klum's over-the-top costumes have become a tradition. In recent years she has appeared as a peacock, a lifelike worm, from Princess Fiona Shrek and Jessica Rabbit, all with the help of heavy prosthetics and often spending hours in the makeup chair. She previously teased on Instagram: “You'll never guess what this year has in store.”

In a recent conversation with PeopleThe America's Got Talent The judge revealed she had been working on this year's costume for months, with time for molding, prosthetics and fittings.

“There's a lot that goes into it because I wanted to be so spectacular that I can't just pull it off overnight,” she said. “It takes a long time. It requires a lot of planning. And then when I do the reveal, I want to have a special reveal because I know I have so many fans, and those special Halloween fans are people who also love dressing up and making up fun things.”

Halloween queen Janelle Monáe also appeared as ET this year, revealing her own take on the iconic character on Wednesday.

Klum's Halloween party, presented by Butterfinger, Mattel and Prime Video at the Hard Rock Hotel New York, included DJ sets from Questlove and Gottmik & Violet.
