Poll results show Trump and Harris nearly tied in Michigan as Election Day approaches

A new poll has found that former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are essentially tied with voters in the battleground state of Michigan.

The Washington Post poll of 1,004 registered voters shows Trump leading Harris here, 47% to 45%. In this group, those who said they were likely to vote for Harris over Trump were 47-46%.

The poll was conducted Oct. 24-28 and has a margin of error of 3.7%. According to the Washington Post, six out of ten voters view the economic situation negatively.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents called the economy an “extremely important issue,” followed by immigration at 47 percent, taxes at 44 percent, health care at 42 percent, abortion at 41 percent and U.S. policy in the Gaza war at 29 percent.

On those issues, Trump leads Harris 49% to 42% among registered voters who believe he would handle the economy better, on immigration 51% to 38% and on the war in Gaza 48% to 38%.

Meanwhile, Harris leads Trump 49% to 36% among voters who believe she will do a better job on abortion and 46% to 40% on health care.

The poll found that voters are evenly divided on which candidate would better serve middle-class workers.

When asked what should be done about undocumented immigrants currently in the U.S., 48% said they should be given the opportunity to apply for legal status, while 46% said they should be deported where they came from.
