Walz tests Trump's age after garbage truck slip-up: “The guy is almost 80”

Tim Walz criticized Donald Trump's age after his garbage truck stunt.

Walz, speaking in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, blasted the septuagenarian after he flew to Wisconsin, donned a bright orange safety vest and climbed into a garbage truck to troll Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

“Look, this guy is almost 80 years old,” Walz said. “He almost killed himself getting into a garbage truck.”

The garbage truck was emblazoned with the Trump campaign logo and, similar to his McDonald's photo op, the former president leaned out the window and asked the press, “How do you like my garbage truck?”

Trump's stunt comes after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico “a floating island of trash” at his rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. The former president also used this as an opportunity to criticize Biden's apparent response, which called Trump supporters “garbage.”

However, the White House claims the president meant “supporters,” referring to Hinchcliffe.

The official transcript of Biden's remarks reads: “The only trash I see floating out there is that of his supporters – his – his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American. It’s a complete contradiction to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”

A storm quickly erupted on social media over whether the word “supporter” is plural or singular with a possessive apostrophe, or whether the punctuation was added to clear up any possible confusion.

Meanwhile, during his rally in Pennsylvania, Walz criticized Trump's economic proposals.

“For 80 years, you would think you would understand how a tariff works,” the Minnesota governor said. “Smarter people than Donald Trump, that's a big chunk of people, CEOs of companies… have said publicly: If Donald Trump goes through with this plan, they're just going to have to raise prices and pass it on to you.”

In June, 16 Nobel Prize-winning economists signed a letter certifying that the former president's proposed measures would “re-ignite” inflation.

The economy has always been the number one issue for voters of all camps. Health care, threats to democracy and immigration also feature highly.

With less than a week until Election Day, national polls show Harris and Trump neck and neck.

In all seven swing states, none of the candidates appear to be ahead. The two candidates are tied in Nevada, with Trump leading in Arizona and North Carolina and Harris leading in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
