While little has been revealed about “The Drama,” it will be directed by Kristoffer Borgli, known for his work on “Dream Scenario” with Nicolas Cage. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is about a couple – played by Pattinson and Zendaya – whose relationship takes a dramatic turn before their big wedding day. According to Boston.com, the film is scheduled to shoot in the Boston area through December. According to Deadline, Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim are also in final talks to join the film's cast.

Hours before filming began, a small crowd formed, including Victoria Kramenko, who works for a nearby technology company. As a “huge” Pattinson fan, she planned to attend a “Twilight”-themed drag show in Back Bay later that evening on Halloween. (She will be dressed as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, along with a friend dressed as Pattinson's famous vampire character Edward Cullen.)

“Movies are such a big part of everyone’s life and I think it’s really cool to see how they’re made,” Kramenko said.

Kramenko's colleague, Boston College graduate Jacqueline Cochran, claimed she was more of a Zendaya fan than a movie buff. She's been following the actor's work since her early days on Disney Channel's “Shake it Up” and is excited at the prospect of seeing the star on the Hub.

“I really like the way she acts,” Cochran said. “Plus, I’ve never been near a film set before, so I thought, why not take advantage of the opportunity?”

As the cameras started rolling, the crowd grew. Many locals stopping for lunch in the area poked around to catch a glimpse of the stars as the sidewalk on High Street between Federal and Summer Streets filled with fans. Many wore Halloween costumes, from Minions to the Lorax to the green M&M.

Paris Inacio rushed to Federal Street with three friends to catch a glimpse of Pattinson. After waiting 30 minutes, they were able to watch him film a scene before heading back to work.

“It's crazy that Boston is such a landmark, but for us it's just home, so it's so interesting to see people from Hollywood here,” Inacio said.

Inacio was with Ava Dodge, who was happy to finally see a film set in person.

“I feel like so many movies are filmed in Boston, but I never go there to see some of the stars in the movies, so it was such a cool experience,” Dodge said.

Both actors have recently been spotted filming The Drama across Boston, with Zendaya notably spotted on Newbury Street earlier this month. The Spider-Man and Dune star appears to be a Tatte fan, as a TikTok user shared a video of Zendaya at the popular cafe's Beacon Hill location earlier this week. Zendaya was spotted in a tatte and shopping on Newbury Street with her longtime boyfriend and “Spider-Man” co-star Tom Holland in 2022 while filming the steamy 2024 tennis movie “Challengers” in the Boston area.
