Trick or Treat Metro Detroit Halloween Weather Forecast: When to Expect Rain

Thursday's warmth won't break any records, but it will be an unusually warm Halloween.

Thursday will be a few degrees cooler with afternoon highs in the lower 70s, but rain and wind could be disruptive.

The showers, including an isolated thunderstorm, are coming from the west. The best window for showers is from 12pm to 5pm, but a few showers may appear as early as 11am and last until 6pm. This means that children and families might encounter a few raindrops at the start of the trick or treatment, but the showers will become fewer.

Wind speeds from the south and southwest will be 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph in the Detroit metropolitan area. In the Thumb, gusts could reach up to 45 miles per hour.

A wind advisory is in effect for Thumb, including Sanilac County, from 2 p.m. Thursday through 2 a.m. Friday.

It will be windy on Thursday evening. The cloud cover is gradually decreasing. The lows are 40 to 45 degrees.

Although the wet and windy weather on Thursday could cause inconvenience for some people. On October 31, conditions will be significantly different than last year. Last Halloween (2023), Metro Detroit had measurable snow depths of 0.2 inches at Metro Airport. The average high temperature on Halloween is 56 degrees and the average low temperature is 39 degrees.

Friday and Saturday

Conditions will become cooler and drier on Friday and Saturday.

Expect highs in the low to mid 50s Friday with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Friday night will be mostly clear, with lows in the lower to mid 30s.

Saturday's sky conditions will be similar, but high temperatures will be in the 50s to 60s. Lows will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Sunday

Rain showers will occur again on Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 50s.

Monday and Tuesday

The chance of showers will continue into Monday and Tuesday as temperatures rise to the 60s and 70s.
