The Mets pushed to sign the Dodgers star to a “multi-year deal” after the outstanding World Series

The New York Mets failed to make the World Series in 2024 and lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. They could try to bring in reinforcements to enable another breakthrough in 2025.

The Dodgers advanced to the World Series and in Game 3, Walker Buehler delivered a gem. FanSided's Chris Landers urged the Mets and other teams to sign him to a “multi-year contract” following his return appearance.

Buehler allowed two hits in five shutout innings in Game 3 of the Fall Classic. In his last start before that, against the Mets, he went scoreless in four innings. His regular season was the worst of his career, but he may have found new life in the postseason.

“With Sean Manaea and Luis Severino in free agency, the Mets need to add not just one but multiple starters, and they've seen firsthand how good Buehler can be when locked down,” Landers wrote. “New York may not be able to afford top players like Max Fried or Corbin Burnes – they will have more pressing uses for their money – but Buehler could represent a real bargain, the opportunity to significantly improve their pitching and cash at the same time to spend.” on people like Juan Soto and/or Pete Alonso.

If Buehler can build on his postseason success, he could be a real steal. In 2021, he was an All-Star, starting in 33 games and receiving Cy Young Award votes. A series of injuries affected his play. In 2024, he had a 5.38 ERA in the regular season.
