ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) — To say there was a lot of hype surrounding Donald Trump's visit to the Resch Center on Wednesday would be an understatement.

Some Trump supporters took the saying “the early bird catches the worm” to heart as people gathered near the Resch Center as early as 4:30 a.m., more than 12 hours before Trump's scheduled arrival.

“I want to make sure I'm at the front so I can see him because I don't want to be in the back and not see him,” said Stella Guy of Tomah.

Local authorities closed numerous roads in the area as people continued to make their way to the venue.

At 1:15 p.m. in the afternoon, the line snaked through the parking lot next to Ray Nitschke Field on Armed Forces Drive as Trump supporters eagerly waited to hear from the presidential candidate himself and from Packers legend Brett Favre, who had previously spoken to Trump.

Security was tight throughout the area, including a police checkpoint on Holmgren Way where Secret Service agents and K9 bomb units checked passing cars.

“I've supported Trump since 2016 and the rallies look absolutely incredible. I've seen them online and they just look like something I'd want to attend. “I work in law enforcement and he's a big supporter of law enforcement,” said Nathan Dean of Marshfield. “He has supported law enforcement and has done so since day one. We have seen things in our country that were not good and not positive for law enforcement.”

People came from far and wide, many from across Wisconsin, because they believe Trump is best suited to lead the nation.

“After finding out overtime isn't taxed, that's a big deal,” said Joseph White of Wausaukee. “You want to see the economy boom? Let’s have our own money, we spend it, we buy more things, that creates more jobs for more people.”

I think the biggest thing for me is the economy, and you know, they're trying to starve us, just with the high prices and inflation, that's really hard on families.

In an interview with FOX 11 on Monday, Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz explained why he and Harris are suitable for the job.

“We have delivered, there is no way we are splitting it. The vice president has spent a lifetime serving the middle class, including me,” Walz said.

Harris is also in Wisconsin on Wednesday, hosting a campaign event on the UW-Madison campus.
