Just a year ago, people were wondering if Audi Crooks could make the jump from high school basketball in small-town Iowa to big-time college basketball at Iowa State.

There seems to be no doubt anymore.

Crooks was a unanimous first-team selection to the USA TODAY Preseason All-Big 12 Team, announced Tuesday. The team was chosen by seven reporters who cover Big 12 women's basketball for the USA TODAY Sports Network.

Crooks, a 6-foot-3 center from Algona, was an easy choice after a strong freshman season. The Iowa State star averaged a team-high 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 58% from the floor, leading all Division I freshmen.

Crooks appeared in all 33 of the Cyclones' games last season and started the final 29 games. She achieved a single-season freshman point total, surpassing Megan Taylor's mark of 460 points in the 1997-98 season. Her 258 made field goals also set a season record.
