No jacket necessary this year – trick-or-treaters are in for a surprisingly warm Halloween in New Hampshire.

Meteorologists are predicting temperatures in the high 70s Thursday night, even as the sun sets and trick-or-treaters take to the streets.

The warmest Halloween on record occurred in New Hampshire in 1946, when the temperature was 79°F.

A forecast from AccuWeather's Paul Pastelok says there will be no snow, ice or cold temperatures across most of the country on Halloween this year.

“On Halloween, we experience a lot of mild weather overall during the day, with some locations being downright warm,” Pastelok said.

What will the weather be like on Halloween in New Hampshire?

According to hourly weather forecasts from the National Weather Service, temperatures in Portsmouth will be in the high 60s during peak Halloween trick-or-treating times.

The NWS forecasts a temperature of 68°F in Portsmouth at 6 p.m. The NWS forecasts temperatures will drop to around 63°F by 8 p.m.

In Manchester, the NWS forecasts temperatures will be 70°F by 6 p.m. on Halloween night, falling to 64°F by 8 p.m

In Concord, Halloween temperatures are forecast to be 69°F at 6 p.m. and 62°F at 8 p.m.

When is sunset on Halloween?

Little ones waiting until dark to go trick-or-treating on Thursday night won't have to wait long.

The National Weather Service forecast for Thursday shows the sun setting in Portsmouth at 5:36 p.m. In Concord it will set at 5:38 p.m., in Manchester at 5:39 p.m
