Why Philadelphia can endure this matchup

Things are looking very bleak in Philadelphia, they need to turn things around as quickly as possible. After winning their first game, they lost six straight before finally getting another win this weekend against the Minnesota Wild. The Flyers have started to find their rhythm in the scoring. In the last three games they have scored 13 goals, just one less than before the first of these three games. However, in most of those contests, they struggled to put pucks in the net early. Of their nine games, Philadelphia scored first in only three, causing them to often fall behind. Playing from the back is never a good thing, especially for a team that struggles to achieve victory. If they want to win this game, they have to beat Boston to open the scoring and they have to run with the momentum that comes with it. If they fall behind again it will be difficult to come back and win, especially in this situation.

Why Boston can survive this matchup

The Bruins have a chance to win every night with the talent they have on their roster. Led by captain Brad Marchand, the Bruins come into this game feeling high after a big OT win on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Boston ended a three-game losing streak with this rivalry victory. Boston has stumbled out of the gate this season but will be looking to extend their winning streak against Philadelphia, who they do very well against. In their last 20 games, the Bruins have a record of (14-4-2) against Philly. Their dominance over the Flyers is due to the contribution of the entire team. But certain individuals like David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand are often on the scoresheet against Philadelphia and help Boston win.
In her career, Marchand has played 51 games against Philly, scoring 49 points (18 goals, 31 assists). Pastrnak has now seen Philadelphia 31 times and collected 43 points (26 goals, 17 assists). These two pose a threat to the opposing team every night, but when you put them against a team that both dominate, they are much more dangerous. Aside from those two, goaltender Jeremy Swayman has been a major problem for the Flyers so far in his young NHL career. He has played against Philadelphia six times, earning four wins, while allowing an average of just three goals in those games. With him in the starting lineup, the Bruins should do well on Tuesday night and most likely come away with a win.

Time for NHL predictions

The Flyers return to the road after losing another game at home. The Bruins, on the other hand, are riding into this game on their high horse after their big OT win. We don't think Boston will slow down in this matchup, nor do we think Philadelphia can keep up with them. Boston will jump on the Flyers early and never look back.

Prediction: Final score Boston Bruins 6 – Philadelphia Flyers 2
