In this article, we take a look at the most eye-catching stats, standout performances and other important news from the NBA. Week 1 was filled with a number of key individual stats, milestones achieved, and new perspectives on what to expect in terms of team rotations and player roles going forward.

To make a start, Jayson Tatum and the Celtics made a statement on opening night as the team set the NBA record for most three-pointers made in a game (29) en route to a 132-109 victory over the new-look Knicks. The entire Celtics team was on track to win, but Tatum stood out as he hit 8 of 11 from deep and posted a 37-point, 10-assist performance. Jaylen Brown shot 5 of 9 from distance and finished the game with 23 points Derrick White scored 6 of 10 from distance for 24 points. Tatum maintained an excellent level of play throughout the week, finishing with 25 points and 11 rebounds in a win over the Wizards on Thursday and another 37-point performance in a win over the Pistons on Saturday.

History was made on opening night LeBron James And Bronny James was the first father-son duo to stand on the pitch together. Bronny's playing time was limited to just a few minutes late in the first half, in which he went 0-for-2 from the field and grabbed a rebound. On the other hand, LeBron delivered 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks, paving the way to a seven-point victory over the Timberwolves. LeBron showed increasingly strong play as the week went on, culminating in a win over the Kings on Saturday with a dominant performance of 32 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. The even more impressive aspect of his triple-double game was the fact that he scored 16 points on 6-for-6 shooting in the fourth quarter alone, along with five rebounds and six assists.

More from the Lakers in Week 1 was the incredible play of Anthony Daviswho topped 30 points in three straight games and led the team to a 3-0 start. Davis averaged 34.0 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.3 blocks and was the highest-scoring fantasy player in Yahoo's Week 1 Points leagues. He seems comfortable under new coach JJ Redick.

LaMelo Ball also got off to a good start, posting back-to-back 34-point performances to start the campaign. Ball has shot at least 10 three-pointers in each of his three appearances, but has only made more than four in a game once and is 15 of 36 from deep this season. Ball appears capable of remaining the Hornets' leading scorer while driving the offense with his elite passing skills. He averages 7.3 assists per game in three appearances.

The Pelicans were dealt a major blow in their season opener when their highly anticipated new addition, Dejounte Murray suffered a broken hand before leaving the game late in the fourth quarter. Murray is expected to miss most of November due to the injury. Due to the injury, the team appears to be switching back to running CJ McCollum at point guard, while Jordan Hawkins And Jose Alvarado is likely to see a significant increase in opportunities.

Trae Young had a brilliant start to the season, recording 30 double-doubles in each of his first two games, including 38 points on 11-for-24 shooting in Friday's win over the Hornets. Young hasn't been particularly efficient from distance, but he's on fire at the foul line, where he's shot a total of 33 of 37 in three games. He'll likely continue to lead the scorers in the current makeup of the Hawks' roster, but his ability to rack up the assists is what's pushing his overall value to elite levels. Young is averaging 10.0 assists per game.

Despite taking over the veterans center Jonas Valanciunas During the offseason, the Wizards opted to move the big man off the bench and give the starting spot to the rookie Alex Sarr. Valanciunas has been a consistent starter throughout his career, averaging a double-double in four consecutive seasons before posting 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game with the Pelicans in 2023-24. He's had two solid performances off the bench so far, but his numbers likely won't match the top producers at the position when he plays off the bench. On the other hand, Sarr finished the season opener with just two points, but scored twelve points and six rebounds in his next game. The rookie also had two blocks in each of his first two games and should get more comfortable with each passing day.

Long time Splash brother Klay Thompson He seemed very comfortable in his new role with the Mavericks, scoring 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting in the season opener, followed by a 19-point performance in his second appearance on Saturday. Thompson is shooting 48.3 percent from the field and a total of 11 of 22 from deep in his first two games with the Mavs. He will likely continue to benefit from top-notch playmaking Luka Doncic And Kyrie Irving.

When there is news Kawhi Leonard It was clear that ongoing injury problems would prevent him from being a starter at the start of the season Norman Powell would have the opportunity to emerge as one of the team's best offensive options. Powell turned in a respectable 17-point performance in the Clippers' season opener, but the 10th-year guard stunned the competition with a 37-point performance on 14-for-21 shooting in Saturday's win over the Nuggets. Powell has had many outstanding goalscoring performances in his career, but with the current makeup of the Clippers' roster, he has a chance to establish himself as a consistent, high-level scorer.

beginner Jay Huff is off to a solid start to his career, averaging 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 19.0 minutes per game in the first week. Most notably, he delivered an impressive performance in the Grizzlies' win over the Magic on Saturday, scoring 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting in just 19 minutes of play. Nonetheless, Huff still faces significant competition for playing time in a relatively deep frontcourt, but his impressive play early in the season can only help him.

Kevin Durant became the eighth player in NBA history to reach 29,000 points. The veteran sharpshooter reached the mark in a win over the Mavericks on Saturday, where he scored 31 points on 10-for-21 shooting. It was the second straight game in which Durant scored at least 30 points, and he reached the 25-point mark in each of his three games to start the season. Durant is shooting 52.7 percent from the field, including a total of 8 of 16 from deep. At 36, he remains one of the league's most feared scorers and appears ready and able to help the Suns reach the top goal scorer.

The electrifying Russell Westbrook made his debut with the Nuggets but had some disappointing performances as he struggled with his shot, hitting a total of 2 of 18 from the field in two games. He will continue to take on a backup role for the team and should find a little more rhythm as he settles into his new surroundings.

Cam Thomas has increased his elite scoring output, reaching the 30-point mark in two of his first three games this season. He has now established himself as the clear No. 1 offensive option in the Nets squad. Expect him to continue to excel with multi-level scoring and a knack for getting to the foul line.

Tyrese Maxey posted a league-high 45 points on 14-for-32 shooting this early in the season and led the Sixers in a win over the Pacers on Sunday. With the looming injury issues plaguing the 76ers' star players, Maxey remains a consistent beacon of hope and looks like he can continue the upward trend he has shown over the past few seasons.
