COLUMBUS – Ohio State will finally have one of its top three linebackers for the game at Penn State.

After a review by the NCAA and the Big Ten, Arvell ReeseTarget ejection has been canceled. He will not be suspended for the first half of the game at Penn State.

From the Ohio State Athletic Department:

Ohio State filed an appeal with the Big Ten Conference on behalf of Arvell Reese's lawsuit in the fourth quarter of the game. The Big Ten contacted the NCAA Football Secretary's Rules Editor and upon review, it was determined that this was not a targeted action.

Reese was sent off late in the fourth quarter of the Buckeyes' win over Nebraska. He was called for targeting after hitting Nebraska wide receiver Jahmal Banks. After an extensive video review, it was ruled that Reese hit Banks in the head, giving the Cornhuskers 15 additional yards as they attempted to march down the field and score a game-winning touchdown. Reese's afternoon was cut short.

The play also resulted in Buckeyes coach Ryan Day putting on his headset and receiving a sideline warning. He was close to getting a 15-yard penalty for the antics. In protest, fans threw trash onto the pitch, which led to a delay in the action.

It wasn't exactly a stellar day for the Big Ten, which ran the Ohio State-Nebraska game. The league spent a good portion of Monday cleaning up the mess with the officiating team.

Earlier in the day, the league released a statement about a missed pitch in the first half that aborted a Nebraska drive.

“During Nebraska's final drive of the first half, on second down with two yards to go at the Ohio State 39-yard line, the ball was mis-seen after a Cornhusker RB run Emmett Johnson“, says the statement. “The ball carrier crossed the 37-yard line and a first down should have been awarded to Nebraska. Replay should have stopped the game to check the point as it was line-to-gain.”

Nebraska scored a field goal at the end of the first half instead of possibly scoring a touchdown.

Now the league is coming clean about Reese's poor targeting. He will not have to sit out the first half of the Ohio State-Penn State game this weekend.
