Arvell Reese will be available for the entire Penn State game after Ohio State won the targeting call

Arvell Reese will no longer be suspended for the first half of the top-five showdown between Ohio State and Penn State.

After Ohio State's win against Nebraska, the program filed an appeal with the Big Ten over Reese's targeting penalty, arguing that he should not have been ejected for his hit on Nebraska wide receiver Jahmal Banks. The Big Ten went to the NCAA, which, after reviewing it, determined that the game should not have been penalized for targeting and lifted Reese's suspension, allowing him to play the entire game against Penn State, an Ohio State spokesman said Monday.

Reese has been a key contributor to Ohio State's defense off the bench this season. He collected 19 tackles and two tackles for loss, making him the team's third-leading linebacker behind Cody Simon (33 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack) and Sonny Styles (43 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack).

On Saturday, the Cleveland native made his second start this season between Simon and Styles as Ohio State opened the game with a 4-3 defense. Reese also played in the Buckeyes' 4-2-5 base defense, replacing Simon at linebacker Mike for eight plays. In total, Reese played 24 snaps in the game before exiting late in the fourth quarter.
