A legendary actor who starred in the film “The Warriors” has died at the age of 75, according to multiple reports.

David Harris, best known for portraying Warriors gang member Cochise in the 1979 cult classic, died Friday at his home in New York City. Harris battled cancer, his daughter told the New York Times.

Harris played an integral member of the titular group who must fight their way from the Bronx to their home base of Coney Island after being falsely accused of murdering New York crime boss Cyrus. His character, Cochise, wore a feathered headband, blue necklaces and the Warriors' trademark red vest.

“We thought it was a little film that would run its course and no one would ever talk about it again,” Harris reportedly said in an interview in 2019. “I was in Hong Kong, I was in the Philippines, I was in Tokyo. I've been in a lot of movies, but when I get off the plane people say, “That's the guy from The Warriors.”

Harris' acting credits also include films and television shows such as “NYPD Blue,” “Quicksilver,” “Elementary,” “Hill Street Blues,” “MacGyver,” “ER,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Brubaker.” ” He also lent his voice to the video game “The Warriors” and reunited with the cast for the 2016 retrospective “The Warriors: Last Subway Ride Home.”

“It means a lot to us because our fans are family,” Harris told Rolling Stone in 2016. “It hasn’t lost any of its power in over thirty years.”

The Walter Hill film wasn't a box office hit when it was first released, but it still finds fans today. “John Wick: Chapter 4” featured a strong homage to “The Warriors,” and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda recently released a concept album based on the film, centered around an all-female gang starring Kenita Miller Cochise and Lauryn stars Hill as Cyrus.
