Prescott 'frustrated' Cowboys miss chance to beat 49ers again originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The 49ers have worn the Cowboys' number for years, but quarterback Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense had a chance to end that series under the bright lights of “Sunday Night Football.”

Trailing by six points with three minutes to play, the Cowboys escaped with a four-out win on their most important drive of the night. After the 30-24 loss, Prescott spoke candidly with reporters about the performance.

“I mean, I'm personally frustrated,” Prescott said. “I’m frustrated with myself about my game. I can imagine the rest of the guys are frustrated because they didn't get a win. But it's a long season.

“Many division games and a lot still ahead of us. Frustrated is the best way I can put it.”

Dallas entered the fourth quarter trailing by 17 points, but scored consecutive touchdowns to cut the deficit to six.

On that final drive, Prescott attempted four passes in a row. Everything incomplete.

After the game, the 31-year-old quarterback explained what went wrong while emphasizing that the team was still confident of a comeback victory.

“Yes. Hell yeah. There is faith. I mean, that’s all I can ask for,” Prescott said. “All this team can ask for is an opportunity ball in our hands in the sixes to win the game. First, end cut and I just have to put the ball higher or try to create something with my legs because it's the first delivery. The second down play, they did a good job, taking (tight end Jake Ferguson) Ferg away from downfield, kind of clamping down on that corner route, pushing me out of the pocket, they liked the third down, they took a shot and didn't convert it .

“On the fourth descent I came under pressure early on, I had to pull myself out of the pocket and give some hope, so to speak. I hope there was some contact in the end. It didn't work out that way. Two guys against one. “They made the plays when they needed to and we didn’t.”

Against the 49ers, Prescott threw for 243 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Other than CeeDee Lamb, no other player stood out for Dallas, and the problems in the run game continued.

The Cowboys have now lost to San Francisco for the fourth straight year, and when they meet in the playoffs this season, Prescott can turn his frustration into motivation for the historic NFC rivalry.
