Trump and Harris are in a dead heat in competitive Wisconsin, poll results show

Former President Trump and Vice President Harris are nearly tied in Wisconsin, a key battleground state, according to a new poll. There are only eight days left until Election Day.

A USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll released Monday found Trump and Harris tied in Wisconsin at 48% and 47%, respectively, in a statewide survey of 500 likely voters. The razor-thin results were within the margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.

However, Harris is leading Trump in Door County, Wisconsin, which has been an indicator of which candidate takes the White House. The poll of 300 likely voters in Door County showed Harris leading Trump in that area 50% to 47%, within the margin of error of 5.7 percentage points.

Wisconsin is one of three Rust Belt states that voted for Trump in 2016 and then switched back to Democrats in 2020. President Biden won the state by just 20,682 votes, or 0.7 points.

Battleground State officials say foreign enemies are using misinformation to “undermine” the democratic process.

In Wisconsin, which like other competitive Midwestern states is characterized by its white, working-class population, 58% of the state's voters are white people without a college degree, according to Fox News Voter Analysis. That's 15 points more than the national electorate.

The USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll also found Harris with a 14 percentage point lead over Trump among women in Wisconsin, 55% to 41%. The result is in Trump's favor among men, showing Trump ahead of Harris by 18 percentage points, 56% to 38%.

Wisconsin is one of three so-called “blue wall” states, along with Michigan and Pennsylvania, which make up seven swing states that will ultimately decide the election. Harris and Trump are competing aggressively in those states, which also include Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina.
