What are the hallmarks of a Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition? Apparently an arrest, a brutal gladiator-style electoral system and a surprise appearance by the man of the hour. Cosmopolitan had boots on the ground at the October 27 contest that went semi-viral last month thanks to the 50 promotional fliers mysteriously scattered throughout New York City. Locally, it was revealed that the mastermind behind this project was 23-year-old YouTuber Anthony Po, the same man who took part in an equally grandiose public cheeseball bingeing stunt earlier this year.

To the delight of Chalamet Stans, his twins and everyone who had boldly bet on his participation, Timothée himself made a surprise appearance. He (disappointingly) chose not to enter the competition, but weaved his way through the crowd at the event to reveal his identity in the middle of the action.

But half an hour into the competition in Washington Square Park, law enforcement intervened due to the excitement of hundreds of eager participants/stans. A would-be Timmy clone was even escorted out of the park in handcuffs for disorderly conduct, and the scene also resulted in a $500 fine for host Anthony Po. Still, the Timmys persevered and the remaining spectators, competition judges and Timothée lookalikes all moved to the nearby Mercer Playground to keep the festivities going.

During the official showdown, three rounds of judging took place, with a dozen contestants vying for the top spot. The first round's judging style, reminiscent of the Apollo Theater, had the audience loudly voting “yes” or “no” for the Timothée twins in question. (With lively audience comments like “No, he looks like that girl Bottoms“LISAN AL GAIB!” and “Is he single?” Midway through the competition, interested singles were also called to the stage to mingle with the competitors, and the whole affair briefly became a deception on Timothée's part dating game.

The Timmy clone who ultimately prevailed over the others was Miles Mitchell, a 21-year-old college graduate from Staten Island who fully participated in the competition Willy Wonka (2023) Robe. He went home with a trophy and a cartoonishly large check for $50. “It was probably one of the best experiences of my life,” he said Cosmo. “I was shocked and really overwhelmed (by the win), but it was incredible.”
