FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Aaron Rodgers didn't come to the Jets for this.

“Yeah, definitely frustrating,” Rodgers said after the Jets’ 25-22 loss to the Patriots.

Rodgers didn't come to the Jets not to score more than 24 points in a game this season.

“We have to score touchdowns,” Rodgers said. “I can’t blame it on Greg (Zuerlein) or try to blame it on Greg. We had a lot of opportunities to score 30 points, make it a two-point game at times and didn’t do it.”

Rodgers didn't come here to have to beat a kicker who had already lost two games and missed a PAT and a 44-yard field goal wide left.

But burning three timeouts in the first quarter isn't a problem.

“One of them we were left behind from the scrum, one of them I was trying to find the right protection,” Rodgers said. “I felt like we could have gotten away with it, but it was OK to take it there. Yes, our operations were a little slow at times.”

It's baffling that with a future first-round Hall of Fame quarterback and seasoned veterans around him, the operation is anything but efficient.

“You can’t objectively say that’s why,” Rodgers said. “We had a few substitutions at times. We were relaxed in the crowd. Sometimes after a big game it can be a slow process. After some of these, there are postponements and requests for the pieces. We tried to line up, win the game and get the perfect call. There’s a lot to see.”

He mentioned a second-and-1 at the New England 11 in the third quarter in which Breece Hall was stuffed for no score before throwing incomplete to Davante Adams before interim coach Jeff Ulbrich called Zuerlein for a 29-yard field goal.

“We don’t play complementary football,” Rodgers said. “Since the last time we won a game where all three phases played really well, we haven't really gotten it right. Same thing today.”

Truly a team effort and no one is acquitted.

“We just have to get better together,” said Ulbrich. “Every single person out there needs to get better. Aaron needs to get better. The coaches have to get better. We all need to get better.”

And so Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback of the 2-6 Jets.
