Fred Warner was “frustrated” when the 49ers left the door open for the Cowboys to return

The 49ers have blown some big leads this season, so their 17-point lead over the Cowboys early in the fourth quarter on Sunday night didn't reassure anyone about the final result.

The fourth quarter wasn't like that either. The 49ers allowed that lead to be cut to six points with two touchdowns from Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb, and Dallas got the ball back with three minutes to play and a chance to win. The 49ers forced four straight incompletions to seal the 30-24 victory, but linebacker Fred Warner had no bragging rights in the end.

“I was frustrated obviously we did it a game where it wasn’t necessary, especially defensively,” Warner said, via 49ersWebzone.com. “They didn’t have to earn free gifts. 88 (Lamb) is wide open, their best player. We can't allow that. We put ourselves in this situation, so we had to extricate ourselves. It was about going out and finishing the game, and we did that.”

The 49ers have had their problems, but no one has run away from the NFC West and they can hope for better health in the second half of the season, so the frustrations of the first two months could soon give way to smiles about the future holds in San Francisco.
