Nick Bosa wore a RESID3NCY San Francisco hat during his postgame press conference. However, one of the questions he faced was about another hat he had worn just minutes before.

During NBC's post-game interview with George Kittle, Brock Purdy and Isaac Guerendo, Bosa briefly crashed the segment, wearing a white “Make America Great Again” hat with gold lettering to make it clear who he was supporting at the upcoming supported presidential elections.

“Alright, Nick Bosa with a message,” Melissa Stark said as Bosa left after showing off his hat.

Bosa was no longer wearing the hat when he spoke to Bay Area reporters. Asked why he chose this moment to make a political statement and, in particular, to show his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump, Bosa replied: “I won't talk about it too much, but I think it's an important time .”

Bosa has been reluctant to publicly express his political views since being selected by the 49ers. He even deleted previous pro-Trump tweets before the 2019 NFL Draft. When asked at the time why he did that, Bosa said: “I had to. There’s a chance I could end up in San Francisco.”

The 49ers selected Bosa with the second overall pick in that draft.

Apparently Bosa now feels more comfortable voicing his opinions and was asked if he had been more tempted to do so in recent years.

“It’s definitely a little easier these days,” Bosa replied with a smile. “But no, I don’t really feel like doing that. It’s just a different climate.”

Trump will compete with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. The 49ers begin their bye week and will not play again until after the election.
