Jayden Daniels and the Commanders leave Bears and fans reeling with Hail Mary

1 minute, 31 seconds Read

The Washington Commanders miraculously defeated the Chicago Bears 18-15.

Trailing by three points as time expired, Jayden Daniels launched a pass toward the end zone that was tipped near the goal line and intercepted by Noah Brown for a 52-yard touchdown.

It was the first go-ahead Hail Mary touchdown in the final 10 seconds since Week 10 of 2020. Daniels is the second rookie to throw a go-ahead Hail Mary in the 4th quarter/OT since ESPN began tracking the play type 2006.

Chicago went up by three points with 23 seconds left, only for Washington to take the lead again four plays later. The Commanders score made it the first game this century in which two teams scored a touchdown in the final 30 seconds of the 4th quarter.

“We keep fighting. We have a great locker room, a great brotherhood,” Daniels said. “There’s no one else I’d rather go to war with.”

Washington's Hail Mary shocked social media, led by Commanders fans Kevin Durant and Josh Hart.
