Eagles vs. Bengals: First quarter results updates

1 minute, 13 seconds Read

The Eagles are now 4-2 heading into their Week 8 game against the Bengals, and with two straight wins coming off the bye, a third would truly be a statement.

Vic Fangio's defense has been much more effective since the bye, and when some of the younger players finally stepped up you can feel the energy. They're still flying to the ball but making better tackling decisions, and the pass rush was completely sold out against the Giants last week. Hopefully they can make Joe Burrow uncomfortable on Sunday and keep Ja'Marr Chase at bay.

The Eagles' offense still needs to find ways to start faster, but relying on the ground game worked against the Giants and was a good way to set the tone. It's probably not the ideal workload for Saquon Barkley in the long run, but things should open up for AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith the more the defense has to devote to stopping the run.

Here's hoping this game is fun and not overly frustrating, and that Jalen Hurts can continue his own winning streak since the bye, as the QB currently has two games without a turnover.
