MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester United winger Antony is being examined by doctors after injuring his left leg in the Europa League against Fenerbahce.

The Brazilian international left the Ülker Stadium in Istanbul on Thursday evening on crutches and protective boots.

United coach Erik ten Hag said it would take 24 hours to fully assess the severity of the injury.

“It’s really bad luck for him,” Ten Hag said Friday. “I really feel bad for him even though he worked so hard in training.”

Anthony came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute of the 1-1 draw, but left the pitch on a stretcher in the 89th minute after falling to the ground clutching his left leg.

The striker, who moved from Ajax in 2022 after United paid a transfer fee of $95 million, has appeared in the starting line-up just once and as a substitute four times this season.

United play West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday with captain Bruno Fernandes, who missed the Fenerbahce game due to suspension, available.
