The Detroit Lions want to avoid a trap game against the Tennessee Titans.

After defeating the Minnesota Vikings to win their first division title of the 2024 season, Detroit returns home as the overwhelming favorite to earn their sixth win.

According to NFL Pickwatch, 98 percent of NFL analysts are picking the Lions to defeat the Titans at Ford Field.

Although the Titans are struggling offensively, Dan Campbell and the coaching staff are aware of how much pressure defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson's defense puts on the quarterback.

“Yeah, it's interesting because some of them you look like and they're in sacks, but they get sacks and it was like, 'Oh, that's a sack.' Well, it was a DPI downfield. “There's a sack.” It was a defensive stance. “It's like these things have gotten to the point where they're being negated,” Campbell said. “So, they really got it, they just couldn’t count because other things were happening on the field.”

Predictions: Titans-Lions

Detroit's fourth-year head coach highlighted Jeffery Simmons, Harold Landry and Arden Key as players making a positive impact on the Titans' defense.

“Look, it starts with Simmons, he's a problem as we know. If you don't get it under control, it can ruin a game. So, this guy is – you have to be careful if you think you can give him one-on-one,” Campbell said. “And then really (Titans OLB) Arden Key and (Titans OLB Harold) Landry (III ), they can both get upfield. They have a quick first step, and in some of these long distance situations they can get a good first step on you and buzz on the edge. Both can counter inside, they're quick.

“Luckily we have two good tackles. But that's where it starts, and then (Titans NT T'Vondre) Sweat can push the middle a little bit. He can get in there and push and do it with the speed at the rim.” “We've talked about Simmons before and then when he just pushes on the pocket, they create problems,” Campbell continued. “And then I’m not even talking about pressure. You start talking about third downs, they have a pressure package, they have a couple of Double-A. They will bring – in some ways no different than what we experienced last week.”

Although the sack total was not increased, Campbell still gave credit to the Titans' defense, which ranked in the top five entering the 2024 season.

“This team was good. I know the sack numbers aren’t there, but the pressure numbers are there,” Campbell said. “And this defense, like I said, it's still – you could say it's a top-five defense. They’re a top-five defense, and they get off the field on third down.”
