Mark Stoops tries to explain how he benched Brock Vandagriff for Gavin Wimsatt

Saturday night felt like an opportunity for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats to get back on track while hosting a struggling Auburn Tigers football team.

The Cats did the exact opposite, allowing Auburn to come to Lexington and win its first SEC game of the season 24-10.

The offense, which has been terribly inconsistent this season, showed momentum in the first quarter and took an early 10-0 lead.

For the remainder of the game, Auburn's defense shut out Kentucky and did not allow another point.

We even saw an official quarterback change when Mark Stoops benched Brock Vandagriff for Gavin Wimsatt in the second half.

There was speculation that this could have been injury-related, but Stoops confirmed after the loss that this was not the case. He just wanted Wimsatt to take a look.

Regardless of the quarterback in the game, it is clear that Bush Hamdan's experience this season has been a disaster.

Hamdan has the likes of Dane Key, Barion Brown and other weapons but hasn't been able to find a consistent rhythm all season.
