Brady Cook was ruled out for the second half of Saturday's game against him Alabama, Missouri will be announced at the end of half time. That means he's dealing with an upper body injury Drew Pyne will take over for the rest of the game.

Cook went to the locker room late in the second quarter after injuring his throwing hand early in the game. This came as he suffered an ankle injury that could have kept him out of Saturday's game. Although he didn't practice this week, Cook got the start as Missouri tried to compete in the SEC.

When Cook left the field, he went to the Crimson Tide's locker room for X-rays and ABCs Katie George reported. Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz didn't confirm the diagnosis but said the injury was enough to keep his quarterback out of the game.

“I just spoke to Eli Drinkwitz. He told me Brady Cook wasn't coming back in this game,” George said early in the third quarter. “We saw him walk into the Alabama locker room in the second quarter. He went into their locker room because they had an X-ray machine. They took a few photos of that right throwing hand. I asked Drinkwitz, how severe is the hand injury? He said it was serious enough that he could be excluded. That’s Drew Pyne’s game.”

Cook later returned to the sideline in street clothes as the second half began. He finished the day with 30 yards on 7 of 12 passing as Missouri's offense struggled to get much going against Alabama.

Cook's status against Alabama saw “pessimistic” Earlier this week, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported. He was listed as doubtful However, the injury report was reported on Wednesday questionable until Friday. Cook then jumped under center as the starting quarterback on Saturday, and Drinkwitz said the plan was to let it rip.

Cook was already dealing with an ankle injury, leading to questions about whether he would even play against Alabama on Saturday. He wasn't able to practice fully during the week, but Drinkwitz still opted to let him start in the Week 9 matchup.

“Due to the ankle injury, Brady Cook was unable to practice much for Missouri this week,” George said. “Well, he was able to do the walk-through on Thursday, but that was it. So he stood on the sideline, stretched, and used the Theragun on his glutes and hamstrings.

“It's worth noting that Eli Drinkwitz said this was his first time playing quarterback after not practicing much during the week. But he felt that Cook, who has been a starter for three years, is an experienced and established player, is confident to do this.”
