Tom Brady admits he prefers playing to broadcasting

When it comes to his broadcasting career, Tom Brady is admittedly a little bored.

In his first seven weeks as lead NFL analyst on Fox, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has posted six losses and just one win for the home team, leaving him missing the high-pressure moments and atmospheres that defined his legendary playing career.

“I can't wait until I get a home team where it's a close game and there's a lot of juice in the stadium,” Brady admitted on the latest episode of SiriusXM Let's go! with Bill Belichick, Maxx Crosby, Peter King and Jim Gray.

But while the lackluster nature of the games he's called is much of the blame for the three-time NFL MVP's boredom, the real culprit may be the fact that he's not doing the job he'd most like to do.

“It was really fun watching those games from the 50-yard line,” Brady continued. “Although I would much rather play on the field because it's a lot more fun down there. But I don't do that anymore. But just watching from above and seeing these guys perform is pretty cool.”

While Brady said he was open to returning to the field as recently as last April, this appears to be the first time since beginning his official broadcasting career that he has expressed a desire to still play. And while he also admitted that this period of his life is now over, this comment certainly casts some of his analysis in a different light, such as when he recently said he would “love” to be the quarterback of the Detroit Lions' offense.

God forbid Jared Goff suffers an injury this season; Would Detroit dare make that call? And while Brady's newfound status as minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders might complicate matters, it's not as if that role doesn't pose hurdles to his current – and apparently less exciting – career.
