Millard West defeats Westview, Gretna East wins cross-city rivalry

The 2024 high school football regular season is officially over in Nebraska as several teams took the field for the last time on Friday. But with the playoffs starting next week, it was certainly exciting.

In Friday's Game of the Week, Millard West earned a 34-7 victory over Omaha Westview. Gretna East used a long field goal in the final seconds to win a thriller 23-20 over rival Gretna, and Omaha North needed overtime to rally past Lincoln Southwest 42-34.

In Class B, Bennington got back on track after Skutt ended its 46-game winning streak a week ago. The Badgers defeated Elkhorn North en route to a 20-6 victory.

Across the river in Iowa, the postseason is already underway for the smaller school divisions. One of the region's top-ranked teams – Treynor – defeated West Sioux 28-14 in the opening round to advance to the Class 1A playoffs.
