Takeaways

Warriors: Golden State posted its second straight stunning win against a team potentially fighting for a lottery berth after defeating Portland 140-104 in the opener. The Warriors used a catch defense to force the Jazz into turnovers and crisp passes to give Hield and Curry open jumpers. Curry and most of the starters sat out the fourth quarter.

Jazz: After a competitive loss to Memphis, the Jazz couldn't shoot or handle the Warriors' pressure. Simple rotations were botched and the Jazz fired from the 3-point line to the lane.

Key moment

Hield came off the bench with the Warriors down by nine midway through the first quarter and immediately hit a 3-pointer after a pass from Curry and then made a layup. Hield then turned facilitator and found Curry for a 3-pointer and Gary Payton II for a layup to give the Warriors a 22-21 lead.

Key statistics

Hield made 12 of 16 3-pointers in his first two games, the most in NBA history for a player with a new team.
