As artificial intelligence takes over the world, Mark Cuban, one of the biggest “sharks” and businessman, has opened up side hustles he would do to make some extra money if he were 16 again.

First, he would learn to write prompts for artificial intelligence language models like OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google's Gemini. Next, he taught his friends how to use these prompts in their schoolwork. “Then I would go to companies, especially small and medium-sized companies, that don’t yet understand AI,” says Cuban. “It doesn't matter if I'm 16, I would teach them too,” he told CNBC Make It.

The Shark Tank judge's side hustle choices differ from his actual first job, when he sold trash bags door-to-door to his neighbors outside Pittsburgh at age 12 to save up for a new pair of basketball shoes, the report says CBNC report. Additionally, as a teenager, he continued to earn extra money by selling collectibles such as baseball cards, stamps, and coins, which eventually helped him finance his studies at Indiana University. There he worked as a bartender, threw parties for money and even took a job as a dance teacher.

After a brief career in banking after college, Cuban transitioned fully into entrepreneurship. He sold his first company, a software startup called MicroSolutions, to CompuServe in 1990 for $6 million. His second company, the audio streaming service Broadcast.com, gave him billionaire status when he sold it to Yahoo for $5.7 billion in 1999.

Today, Cuba's net worth is estimated by Forbes at $5.7 billion. He spends much of his time promoting his online pharmacy, Cost Plus Drugs, which aims to make a number of common prescription medications more affordable by selling them at cost plus a 15% markup.
