Christian Darrisaw has knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season

EAGAN, Minn. – Vikings star left tackle Christian Darrisaw will require knee surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season, head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed Friday.

The fourth-year pro suffered a knee injury just before halftime in Minnesota's 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night. Darrisaw was placed on the Vikings' season-ending injured reserve on Friday activated tight end TJ Hockenson removed from the Reserved/Physically Unfeasible list.

Always an optimist, O'Connell expressed “hope last night that perhaps the imaging would pick up a less serious injury, but unfortunately that is not the case.”

“He has sustained a serious injury to his left knee which will require season-ending surgery,” O'Connell added after an MRI revealed a torn ACL and ACL. “We will determine the best course of action in terms of the procedure to resolve the injury and I know CD will be right where he was this year, which is one of the best left tackles in football anywhere,” at a high level.

“I love everything about the evolution of his career up to this moment and he has great people around him, both teammates and our medical staff, who will lead the effort to have CD back with us as quickly as possible,” continued O' Connell continued. “But right now I’m really just thinking about Christian. He's really developed into one of our key leaders…one of our offensive pillars that we've leaned heavily on. And it will be a significant loss, but we all need to do a little more.
