Former Broncos safety Kareem Jackson reacts to 'miserable' face mask miss on 'TNF'

The Los Angeles Rams' victory over the Minnesota Vikings is imminent Thursday Night Football This week ended in controversy.

Trailing by eight points late in the fourth quarter, the Vikings got the ball back deep in their own territory. Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold was then sacked in his own end zone to seal a 30-20 loss for the Vikings.

Rams pass rusher Byron Young called a flagrant facemask penalty on the sack, but the official did not throw a flag, sparking much controversy.

One of those who spoke out about the incident was former Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson.

“NFL should be ashamed that the refs are terrible every week,” Jackson tweeted.

Jackson, 36, played for the Broncos from 2019 to 2023. He is now on the Buffalo Bills practice squad.

“Referee combination is necessary, smh. How to test the players but not the MF watching them 🤣🤣🤣,” Jackson wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Jackson was repeatedly fined and suspended twice for his illegal hits with the Broncos last season.

“And brother will go home with no consequences and all his money and ready to call a game next week,” Jackson wrote. “But the players bear all the consequences. For hits, PIs, etc… This (expletive) pathetic little thing.”

Jackson certainly wasn't alone in his criticism of the missed call.

“I can't see a face mask 3 feet in front of them, but we want the referees to decide in real time what is and isn't a hip drop tackle. 😂😂,” JJ Watt tweeted.

Based on his reaction after the game, Young appeared to expect a penalty. He followed the game on Twitter/X with a funny response.

With the win, the Rams improved to 3-4. The Vikings fell to 5-2. The Broncos are not scheduled to play either team this season.
