Laverne Cox has called on the Republican Party to “fight its transphobia with all its might” this election season. You can watch her full speech below.

The 52-year-old actor and activist who rose to fame playing trans prisoner Sophia in the Netflix drama Orange is the new blackShe continued to capitalize on her recent appearance The Daily Show to raise awareness of the disinformation surrounding anti-trans legislation and campaigning.

During the appearance, Cox called attention to the rise of anti-LGBTQIA+ laws across the U.S., including the 25 laws that ban transgender people under the age of 18 from accessing gender-affirming care.

“Thank you for making sure schools don't teach about sexual orientation or gender identity, because if you pretend trans kids don't exist, they disappear, just like if you pretend climate change doesn't exist… it disappears too!” she previously joked, adding, “I guess we'll never know why my tits sweat in December.”

Cox then highlighted that Donald Trump and the Republican party had spent $65m (£49m) on campaign ads pushing anti-trans rhetoric.

Returning to the ads, Cox said, “Do you know how disappointing it is when someone finally spends $65 million on me, just for this crap?” I didn't want hateful attack ads. I wanted a house in the hills with six walk-in closets!”

She continued: “This is straight out of the bigotry handbook: Using dehumanizing language towards marginalized groups provides a permission structure to attack them, because when people are made less human, you can take away their rights (and) violence against them.” commit them with impunity.”

Cox further pointed to the ongoing legal battle between North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson and CNN, which reported in September that the Republican left a series of disturbing comments on a pornography website before entering politics. Robinson, who is taking legal action against the channel, strongly denied the claims and then admitted he enjoys watching trans pornography.

Cox joked about the situation: “If you had told me that anti-trans politicians were secretly watching – and loving – trans porn, I would have said, 'Duh.'

“I'm 52 years old and if I had a dime for every conservative man who tried to contact me, I could buy this house in the Hills.”

She added: “Turning us into sex objects is just another way of dehumanizing us. And I think it’s time to stop dehumanizing and start rehumanizing each other.”

Cox then showed a map that suggested the top searches for trans porn were all in red states before concluding, “We see you.” We see you all. All we ask is that you see us too. And that you pull up your damn pants.”

Earlier this week, Veep star Julia Louis Dreyfus voiced her own criticism of Donald Trump and the Republican Party over women's rights in America.

On social media, the actress said in a video: “They want to break into our doctors' offices and our bedrooms to control our access to birth control, IVF and of course abortion – even if they don't know a uterus.” would have to crawl out.”

Louis-Dreyfus continued to urge people to vote for Harris before adding, “Because I don't know about you, but I'd really like to get the government out of my damn fix.”
