OXFORD, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Oakland County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday afternoon that Oxford High School was placed on lockdown due to what was believed to be a “false threat of violence.”

The sheriff's office said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the lockdown was done “out of an abundance of caution.”

According to officials, a call came in around 11:45 a.m. claiming that a person was in the bathroom with an automatic rifle and a pipe bomb and was threatening to shoot people and set off a bomb.
