Country singer Zach Bryan, 28, and Barstool Sports personality Brianna LaPaglia, known as “Brianna Chickenfry,” 25, have broken up, but the world shouldn’t know it just yet. The Boston native said she was “surprised” that Bryan made their split public this week.

The “Something in the Orange” singer said in an Instagram Story posted Tuesday that the two had parted ways.

“Brianna and I have separated and I respect and love her with all my heart,” Bryan said. “She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and I will always thank her for that.”

Shortly after Bryan's post, LaPaglia took to social media to tell fans that she didn't know he would publicly discuss their breakup.

“I had no idea this post would blow up. He didn’t text me, he didn’t call me,” LaPaglia said in an emotional YouTube video uploaded Tuesday. “I’m completely taken by surprise.”

LaPaglia said they broke up just a day before Bryan made their split public.

“How can you give someone your whole self and then be separated from them in a few days? It’s really, really heartbreaking,” she said in the video.

On his Instagram story, Bryan hinted that he was the one who canceled.

“I personally had an incredibly tough year and had to go through some pretty bad things,” he said. “I thought it would be beneficial for both of us if we took different paths.”

Before the couple's split was confirmed on social media, LaPaglia posted an image on Instagram of a handwritten note that hinted at healing and moving on with life.

“And at some point you will realize that life goes on, even if you don’t want it to,” she wrote. “The days will pass and the world will move as you ask it to stop.”

In her YouTube video, LaPaglia thanked her fans for their support and said she would be taking a break from social media.

“Thank you for the nice messages. I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine,” she said. “I’m really, really hurt right now.”

Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy didn't hesitate to take a dig at Bryan and show his support for LaPaglia during the breakup. In a post on X, Portnoy included a link to Taylor Swift's song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and dedicated it to LaPaglia.

Bryan and LaPaglia reportedly met in May 2023. In July of this year, LaPaglia confirmed that she was dating Bryan on an episode of her podcast “Plan Bri Uncut.”
