Ticket prices for the 2024 World Series are skyrocketing ahead of the Yankees-Dodgers Series

The hottest ticket in town may be the highest ticket in town.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees will face off in the World Series, with the average ticket price hovering around $1,500. Two long-time rivals, teams with a large fan base and superstar players, Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and Mookie Betts, will take part in the duel. If you add that up, you get tickets that bring in a lot of money.

Die-hard Yankees fan Raymond Perez is among the fans who took a chance on going to a game and took the money from his wedding fund, even though he says his fiancée gave him the green light.

“The total cost for four tickets was $9,400, and each ticket is $2,360,” he told TODAY for a story that aired Oct. 23.

Perez is just one of thousands of people willing to spend big on Fall Classic.

“At StubHub, we are on track to make this the best World Series in history in terms of total revenue,” says StubHub’s Adam Budelli.

According to StubHub, ticket sales increased 71% in the last 24 hours, already surpassing ticket sales from last year's World Series, which pitted the Arizona Diamondbacks against the Texas Rangers.

Budelli sees this as a phenomenon that doesn't happen too often, noting that it's similar to Taylor Swift and her “Eras Tour.”

“We last saw this in the last year and a half or so with the Taylor Swift global tour,” he said. “Those bucket list events where people are really willing to spend that extra dollar to see and experience something truly unique.”

And while spending money to watch baseball can be hard on your wallet, fans think it's worth it.

“Everyone is probably going to be tense and standing the whole game, so they're definitely just going to enjoy the experience,” Perez said.

Game 1 of the World Series begins October 25 at Dodger Stadium. This is the first time the Yankees will play in the World Series since 2009. This will be the 12th time the Yankees and Dodgers have met in the Fall Classic, making it the most frequent World Series matchup in history.
