Michigan Basketball secured the commitment of a top international young player on Wednesday. Oscar Goodman of Opunake, New Zealand, gave his commitment to the Wolverines, the program's second commitment to the Class of 2025 in five days.

Goodman is a 6-foot-2 forward who made the five-man FIBA U17 World Cup All-Star team this summer. He trains at the NBA Global Academy in Australia.

At the FIBA event in Turkey, he helped underdogs New Zealand reach the semifinals before losing to eventual champions USA. In seven games, he averaged 17 points, 6.3 rebounds and three assists per game.

Michigan secured a commitment from Winters Grady, a top-100 prospect in the 2025 class, on Friday.

Later that day, new Michigan head coach Dusty May spoke about recruiting. “We like where we are,” he said, noting that NCAA rules prevented him from discussing unsigned prospects. “We have employees who are very connected and work very, very well together. And then when you consider how aggressive our players are in recruiting and wanting to bring good players to this program, it was fun to be in the recruiting hole with this group.”

“I chose Michigan because Coach May saw that I fit their style of play,” Goodman told ESPN. “I really liked the atmosphere in which we do everything for each other. I placed a lot of emphasis on good team chemistry and noticed that all the guys enjoyed being around each other.”

Goodman said he plans to represent New Zealand again this summer. He is described as a versatile player who can shoot and pass.
